Chester County Council is the local operation of the Scouting America, serving Chester County, Pennsylvania and northern Cecil County, Maryland.
The Council Scout shop sells uniforms plus Scouting gifts and accessories.

VOCABULARY
Class A Uniform | Scout Shirt, neckerchief, slide, belt, Scout pants (or shorts), Scout socks, and hiking boots. This uniform is worn to weekly meetings and formal events.

Class B Uniform | Blue Class B Troop t-shirt, Scout shorts, Scout socks, and boots. This uniform is worn to camp or physical volunteer service.

Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster (SM/ASM) | The adult uniformed leaders of the Troop who are trained BSA volunteers and attend meetings, camping trips, and activities.

Troop Committee | A committee of adults who share the mission of supporting the Troop. The committee includes the Committee Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Outdoor Activities Coordinator, Training Coordinator, Advancement Coordinator, Recruitment Coordinator/Pack Liaison, and Service Coordinator. The committee meets once per month.

Senior Patrol Leader/Assistants (SPL/ASPL) | Scout leaders are elected by the Scouts. |
Green Bar | The youth leadership team (SPL, ASPLs, Patrol Leaders, Scribe, Quartermaster, etc.) who meet to plan the meetings/trips with the support of the Scoutmaster and Green Bar Advisor (an Assistant Scoutmaster).

Scoutmaster Conference | A meeting between a Scout and SM or ASM to ensure rank advancement requirements have been met. Scouts are expected to show how they have grown in understanding Scouting ideals.

Board of Review | Follows a Scoutmaster Conference. A panel of adults reviews the Scout to ensure requirements have been met and attempts to determine the Scout’s attitude and understanding of Scouting ideals and applications.

Scout Log | A journal each Scout keeps of their Scouting activities (excluding weekly meetings) and related volunteer work. Up-to-date Scout logs are requested at each Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review. |
Court of Honor (COH) | Award ceremony for Scouts and their families, held in Fall and Spring.

Scout Account | Funds earned from the Christmas Tree Sale and other fundraisers deposited into a youth’s account that can be applied to any Scouting-related expense.

Order of the Arrow (OA) | BSA’s national honor society. Experienced Scouts and Scouters (registered adult members of the Boy Scouts of America who serve in a volunteer or professional capacity) selected by their peers based on continual demonstration of exemplary Scouting skills.

ILST/C | Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops/Crews training. Prerequisite for NYLT.
|
NYLT | National Youth Leadership Training. Annual two-weekend course teaching leadership skills to eligible Scouts (First Class rank + 13 years old).

Horseshoe Scout Reservation (HSR) | Council Scout camp. Location for our week of sleepaway camp each July. |
