VOLUNTEER
Get involved and make a real difference
DO A
GOOD TURN DAILY
Adult Volunteers
Adult volunteers are essential to the success of the Scouting program. Troop 76B offers many ways for adults to get involved—whether or not you can camp or attend weekly meetings (though we always welcome that, too!).
Every contribution of time, skill, or support strengthens our Troop and helps provide an outstanding experience for our Scouts.
Parent Participation
We encourage parents to participate in any way they can. You’re welcome to:
Attend meetings or camping trips
Lend a hand at Troop events
Serve on a committee or help with a single project
If you have a talent, hobby, or skill you’d like to share at a meeting, we’d love to include it! Many parents also choose to serve as Merit Badge Counselors, helping Scouts explore new interests.
For overnight trips, parents must be a Registered Adult.
(One adult registration is included with Scout dues.)
Youth Service Hours
Scouts are required to complete service hours for rank advancement. Troop 76B offers both independent and Troop-organized service opportunities throughout the year.
To find upcoming options, visit our Troop 76 Service Opportunities page.
AVAILABLE ROLES
Assistant Scoutmasters (ASMs)
Looking for a hands-on way to make a difference? ASMs play a key role in mentoring Scouts as they grow in leadership and skills. Join the adventure by attending meetings, guiding Scouts through their advancement, and taking part in camping trips where the real magic of Scouting happens.
Committee Members
Prefer to work behind the scenes? Our Troop Committee is the backbone of Troop 76! There are several important roles available, including Secretary, Treasurer, Advancement, Training Coordinator, and Member-at-Large. Meetings are held virtually on the second Tuesday of each month.
Merit Badge Counselors
Share your passion and teach what you love! Merit Badge Counselors help Scouts discover new interests, build skills, and explore careers and hobbies through more than 135 merit badges, from Photography and Engineering to Hiking and Citizenship. Whether you can give a few hours or guide Scouts over several weeks, your enthusiasm and experience can make a lasting impact. — Scouts do most of the work; you simply guide, encourage, and review their progress.

Camping Support
Love the outdoors—or want to discover a new love for it? You can help by joining us on camping trips, even if you can’t make weekly meetings. This is one of the most rewarding ways to see Scouts in action, learn new skills, and experience the fun side of Scouting firsthand.
Court of Honor Coordinators
Enjoy event planning or celebrating achievements? This team plans and organizes our spring and fall Court of Honor ceremonies—the highlight of the year when Scouts are recognized for their accomplishments. This is a great role for creative planners who enjoy bringing families together to celebrate success.
Supporting & Part-Time Volunteer Roles
Not ready for an ongoing position? No problem! Troop 76 has plenty of ways to get involved—big or small. We’re always looking for adults who can lend a hand with specific events or short-term projects, including:
Coordinating the Court of Honor (Fall and Spring)
Helping with fundraising events like the Tree Lot or popcorn sales
Collecting and organizing permission slips, forms, and medical records
Coordinating service projects or community events
Providing transportation or logistics help for outings
Every contribution—whether for an hour, a weekend, or a single event—helps keep the troop running smoothly and creates a stronger program for our Scouts.
We’re proud of our dedicated adults who make Scouting possible—like those who took a week off to camp with the Troop at Horseshoe Scout Reservation! Their time and commitment help create memories that last a lifetime.
ADULT VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
As part of our ongoing commitment to youth safety, Scouting America requires every adult attending overnight activities to be a registered member. This update enhances the minimum “two-deep leadership” requirements by additionally requiring every adult present on overnight activities to be a registered member of Scouting America.
This includes submitting an application, background checks, and completing Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT).

- Complete the mandatory Volunteer Background Checks:
Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check – Free
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance – Free
